Our Move to Florida

Thus far God has blessed us tremendously as we embark on our move to Florida. Our drive out here, while extremely fun, was rather uneventful. All of our stuff was picked up from my parent’s house on the 3rd. (You can find pictures of our moving van and our stuff packed into one room in my parent’s house on the side bar.) We left that night for our roadtrip out to Florida. Our first stop was Josh’s parent’s house in Southern California, where we stayed for two nights.
The second stop was in Arizona to see my Aunt Debbie, cousin Elizabeth, her husband Mike, and their children. This stop was particularly a blessing because I haven’t had the opportunity to see them in many years. (You can see pictures of them in in the side bar, they’re standing out by cars.)
We continued on from there to Los Alamos, New Mexico. We stopped there to see our really good friends from college, Daniel and Julia Sheppard, as well as their parents. In New Mexico we also got to meet some of the people who have faithlfully supported us for the past year.
Our last stop before Orlando was Austin, Texas where our friend Daniel is attending grad school at UT. We stayed with them for a fun nights and had tons of fun.
We left Austin on Friday morning at 9 am. Along the way we stopped for a couple of hours at the French Quarters in New Orleans, then continued on to Florida for a 22 hour driving day. Big thanks to one of Josh’s best friends, Kyle Wilson, for driving the graveyard shift from 2 to 6am. We couldn’t have done that leg in one day without him.
Saturday morning we got the keys to our apartment and moved our suitcases in. Then for lunch that day some fellow staff, whom Josh knew from his time in Kenya, Pat and Betty Flynn, hosted us for lunch. They then lent us all the essentials to stay in our own place while we wait for the rest of our worldly possessions to arrive. Big thanks to them for towels, sheets, blankets and air mattresses to sleep on. Later that evening we went out to Smokey Joes for dinner with a couple of the people from one of the teams that Josh will be cordinating with for his job. Finally that night, after being in other people’s places since June, we got to spend our first night back in our own place.
Our apartment is great! (You can see pictures on the side bar.) It’s just as nice as I expected it to be based on what we had seen online before renting it. I can’t say anything bad about Orlando yet, we did arrive during the best season of the year.
In the end I feel it confirmed that God has called us here to Orlando to do his work under Campus Crusade’s umbrella.
Our stuff is set to arrive on Wednesday. I’ll update the site with more pictures and more info as we get more settled and start to go into the office. Please continue to pray for us as we adjust to our new home.
